What are we doing?
We are conducting extensive monitoring of trash and ocean
currents on Guanaja Island, specifically in the Bay Islands National Marine Park.
Why do we do it?
Our goal is to better understand the nature and extent of plastic pollution on our coasts. Through the monitoring of ocean currents and the dispersal of garbage, we can determine whether waste is generated locally or if it is brought from other areas by ocean currents. This knowledge is essential for developing effective mitigation strategies and protecting our marine ecosystems.
How you can help?
You can contribute to our conservation activities in several ways:
-
Active participation in data collection and analysis: Join our data collection teams on litter and ocean currents as a volunteer. Your direct contribution is vital to gathering accurate and complete information.
-
Reducing the consumption of single-use plastics: Adopt conscious consumption habits and reduce your use of single-use plastics. Opt for reusable and biodegradable alternatives whenever possible to help reduce the amount of plastic waste that reaches our oceans.
-
Education & Awareness: Share information about the importance of keeping our oceans clean and healthy with your friends, family, and community. By educating others about the negative impacts of plastic pollution, you can inspire positive changes in behavior and promote greater environmental awareness.
-
Financial Donation: Contribute financially to our marine conservation projects and programs through monetary donations. Your financial support is essential to carry out our beach clean-up, marine species monitoring, habitat restoration, and community awareness initiatives. Every donation contributes directly to the protection and preservation of our oceans and marine ecosystems for future generations.
Ways to Give
