Damaris Dueñas

Damaris Dueñas is a Honduran biologist who graduated from the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) in 2019. In 2023, she earned an MSc in Tropical Marine Biology from the University of Essex, United Kingdom as a Chevening Scholar supported by the British Embassy. A passionate conservationist and researcher, she focuses on the Mesoamerican Reef and the Bay Islands Marine National Park, working on marine ecosystem restoration in the Caribbean and Indo-Pacific, coral diseases, and environmental awareness. Her experience includes leading collaborative projects that bring together governance, coastal communities, fishers, the private sector, tourism, scientists, and nonprofit organizations.
Damaris blends her scientific background with a creative and artistic perspective, exploring ways to connect people with marine conservation through environmental education and visual communication. Her work reflects a deep commitment to ocean protection, environmental justice, and the inclusion of local knowledge in coastal management.
